MunchBoxes is an online ordering platform operated by Vera Group Ltd. ("Vera Group", "we", "us", or "our"). MunchBoxes lets independent local businesses ("stores") offer their products for order through their own online storefronts. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use a MunchBoxes storefront, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Each store you order from is an independent business. This policy covers how Vera Group handles your information as the operator of the platform. The store you order from may also handle your information as its own independent business; see the section on sharing below.
1. Information we collect
When you place an order, we collect:
- Your name.
- Your phone number, so the store can reach you about your order.
- Your delivery address, only if you choose a delivery option where a store offers one.
- The details of your order, such as the items and any notes you add.
You do not need to create an account to place an order.
We also collect limited information automatically:
- Technical information such as your device type, browser, and general usage of the storefront.
- Your IP address, which we use in a protected (hashed) form to keep the platform secure and to prevent abuse such as spam orders.
2. Payments
In the current version of MunchBoxes, you pay the store directly, in person, when you pick up your order. We do not collect or store your payment card details, and we do not process your payment. If online payment is added in the future, it will be handled by the store through its own payment provider, and we will update this policy before that change takes effect.
3. Information stored on your device
Your shopping cart is stored on your own device so the storefront works smoothly while you order. We use only the storage needed to operate the storefront. We do not currently use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking on MunchBoxes storefronts.
4. How we use your information
We use your information to send your order to the store you chose so it can be prepared and handed to you, to operate and improve the platform, to keep the platform secure and prevent fraud and abuse, and to meet our legal obligations.
5. How we share your information, and the store's role
We share your order and contact information with the independent store you ordered from, because that store needs it to prepare your order and reach you. Once the store receives your information, the store uses it as an independent business and is responsible for its own handling of that information. If you have questions about how a particular store uses your information, please contact that store.
We also share information with service providers that host and operate the platform on our behalf, under agreements that require them to protect your information. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger or sale. We do not sell your personal information.
6. How long we keep your information
We keep order information for as long as needed to provide the service, support stores in serving their customers, resolve disputes, and meet legal and accounting requirements. We then delete or anonymize it.
7. How we protect your information
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your privacy rights
We handle personal information in line with applicable Canadian privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Subject to those laws, you may ask to access the personal information we hold about you and to correct it if it is inaccurate. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
9. Children's privacy
MunchBoxes is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes will be reflected on this page. Your continued use of MunchBoxes after an update means you accept the updated policy.
